Unable to start restore of Microsoft SQL Server database after selecting a backup image in the NetBackup for MS SQL Client
Problem
"Error occurred handling an SQL object name" when selecting a database to restore using the Netbackup MS SQL Client and clicking the Restore button
Error Message
Error occurred handling an SQL object name
Solution
On the restore destination client:
1. Close the NetBackup Database Extension (dbbackup.exe)
2. Open an Explorer window and navigate to: \install_path]\Veritas\NetBackup\dbext\mssql\
3. Delete all of the Sub-Directories of the MSSQL folder
4. Now start the NetBackup MS SQL Client using "Run as administrator" to verify the issue is resolved.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue perform the following on the restore destination client:
1. Close the NetBackup Database Extension (dbbackup.exe)
2. Run Regedit as Administrator
3. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Veritas\NetBackup\NetBackup for Microsoft SQL Server\
4. Open the setting called "DEFAULT_SQL_STANDARD_USERID" change its value to "sa" (without the quotes). If it already has that value, try deleting it.
5. Close the registry and start the NetBackup MS SQL Client using "Run as administrator"
6. Reset the SQL Server Connection Properties, then try creating a restore script to verify the issue is resolved.
