Problem

Getting an error in the Alerts Section on the Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) console: Unable to configure the Desktop Agent on computer 'ComputerName' for user 'Domain\User'. Error: Failure 0x80040E37 querying active directory container  LDAP: //OU=<OUNAME>,DC=<DomainName>,DC=<Domain>

Error Message

When launching the DLO Agent following error occurs:

Information V-139-32768-16389 or V-138-32768-16389
Unspecified error
Failed to load configuration settings

At the same time it reports the error in the Alerts section of the DLO Console as below:

Error: Failure 0x80040E37 querying active directory container LDAP: //OU=<OUNAME>,DC=<DomainName>,DC=<Domain>

Cause

The above error would occur if the user belonging to a Organizational Unit (OU) in Active Directory (AD) is been moved to a different OU and/or the previous OU is deleted from AD. However, the Automated User Assignment (AUA) is still present in the DLO and the users are still trying to query the same old OU which is not present in AD.

Solution

On DLO server, under the Automated User Assignment, change the Active Directory object to point to the correct OU.
