If multiple DLO users share use of a single client machine, by default the DLO (Desktop and Laptop Option) Client will attempt to run backups when they login, but there may be certain users that you do not wish to allow backups to run for. It is possible to configure the DLO Client on that machine to prevent backups running for certain named users.

To restrict which logged on users DLO Client backups will not run for, a registry key needs to be added to the DLO Agent Client as the following steps:

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
1. Open Regedit on the DLO Client machine and go to the following registry key:

  HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Symantec | Symantec DLO | Client | DisabledAccounts  ( For 32Bit Client )         or
  HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Wow6432Node | Symantec | Symantec DLO | Client | DisabledAccounts
( For 64Bit Client )
2. Create a String Value (REG_SZ) named as the users that you wish to prevent DLO Agent backups for, in the format  <Domainname>\<username>;
   i.e.     DOMAIN\User1
DLO DIsabledAccounts Registry key

3. Repeat Step 2 for any other users that you wish to prevent DLO backups for

4. Close the Registry.  When the named user(s) next logs onto the DLO Client machine, the DLO Agent will not run backups.

For Veritas DLO 9.x  the registry keys are:
HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Veritas | Veritas DLO | Client | DisabledAccounts    (  32Bit Clients )
HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Wow6432Node | Veritas | Veritas DLO | Client | DisabledAccounts     (  64Bit Clients )
