Problem

EV collection stopped working with a failure or partial success.

ERROR

EVSearcher-<date-NNN>.log

ERROR [root] (289896:pid::NNN) Could not create directory: Error:N:\evtemp\dataStore_evidence_repo_NNN\EV-temp-0.NNN\metadata\evsearch\NNN Win32Error: 112 There is not enough space on the disk.

Cause

The Enterprise Vault (EV) Temp location configured for eDiscovery Platform no longer has enough space available.  Therefore, the collection from EV will not complete.

Solution

Solution 1   (Change the path of the EV Temp location to a location with more space available):

Use the property browser in the user interface (UI) within the support features to add or change the path value for the property esa.icp.ev.tempDirRoot to point to a location that has plenty of free space.

Note:  Additionally you can use the property esa.icp.task.deleteOnDiskTaskData with a value of true so that the collection temp data is removed once the collection has been completed.  The collection data is not automatically removed by default.  This will help prevent running out of disk space for future tasks.

Solution 2   (Free up some or all of the used space)

  1. Navigate roughly to the location described in the error message ie. N:\evtemp\dataStore_evidence_repo_NNN
  2. Determine if that location has run out of space or is in danger of running out of free disk space.
  3. Navigate through the User Interface to system >jobs
  4. Make sure you do not need to restart and can do without all of the logging information for the EV collection jobs listed.
  5. Delete all of the EV collection jobs that are no longer needed.
  6. Navigate to the  temp location listed in the error message:   ie. N:\evtemp\dataStore_evidence_repo_NNN
  7. Use backup software to backup the location
  8. Delete some or all of the EVtemp sub directories necessary to free space.
