Problem

Maximum file size in NFS network disk storage setting does not work for Backup Exec

Cause


The Max File Size setting currently works property for the specific file systems like "NTFS", "ReFS", FAT32, REV UDF, FAT, exFAT, UDF. File systems other than these allowed list follow 2GB max file size for now. NFS is currently being qualified and hence till Backup Exec 22, this Maximum File Size setting does not work for it (NFS network storage). In the screenshot below even though the maximum file size setting is set to 12 GB, but still new BKFs are created after 2 GB is written in case of NFS network disk storage.


Solution

 

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time.  However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article. 
 
Please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 22.1.
