Product(s): Veritas Alta SaaS Protection
Description
When creating multiple connectors that will contain the same settings and/or similar settings, rather than create and configure them all manually, there is an option to save the connector as a template (as shown below).
Doing this saves the steps of configuring each connector so that when a new connector is created, simply load the template and all the settings are pre-populated.
This can be done with any connector type.

The button name has been changed to
Templates in versions 2.9.295 and above.

As an example, there is a need to create multiple File Connectors due to many different shares that will be captured. So, the first connector will be configured with all the necessary settings and then saved as a template. The only settings that will be changed when the remaining connectors are created are the
Name and
Root Path. Unless there are other settings you wish to modify.
These templates are saved in the Hub Database within Alta SaaS Protection (ASP). What this means is they can be used across multiple servers running the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection Connector Service.
An important note below regarding connectors that contain usernames and passwords. I.e. any related to O365, FTP, SFTP, etc.
These passwords are stored locally, so if the templates are loaded onto a different server running the connector service an error will occur, which is normal.
It is not recommended to use templates for these connector types unless it is on the same server.
