ProblemAfter NetBackup 8.0 Master Server has been successfully installed, there may be end cases when a Repair install might be desired.
Error MessageIf a Repair Install is attempted for a NetBackup 8.0 Master Server, the repair install will fail and roll back as observed below.
Upon examination of the install log (C:\ProgramData\Symantec\NetBackup\InstallLogs\NetBackup Install.yearmonthday.xxxxx.log) it will be observed the rollback is triggered by lack of account credentials being specified for the NetBackup Web Management Console service.

02-07-2017,12:39:03 : Action 12:39:03: Rollback. Rolling back action:
CauseUnlike a fresh install or an upgrade to NetBackup 8.0, the Repair install sequence never prompts the user to provide credentials for the NetBackup Web Management Console service.
The lack of credentials causes the rollback to occur when executed on a Master Server.
NOTE: NetBackup Media Servers and NetBackup Clients do not have the NetBackup Web Management Console service installed. Therefore the Repair install option will succeed for such installation types.
As a consequence, the Repair install option is defective for Windows NetBackup 8.0 Master Servers.
- This functionality will be addressed in future versions of NetBackup.
