    Under the Regulation on Recycling 449/2004, producers are required to be part of a product management program approved by the Government of British Columbia. Veritas is a member of the government-approved end-of-life electronics recycling program, EPRA British Columbia.

    EPRA British Columbia is funded through an Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) which Veritas charges on its covered products under the recycling regulation in this province. The EHF is then remitted to EPRA British Columbia.

    Veritas customers can drop off their unwanted electronics free of charge for safe, secure and responsible recycling at an EPRA British Columbia drop-off location.

There are currently no e-waste regulations in the following countries. Veritas recommends that you identify and contact a local recycler in order to ensure the responsible collection and recycling of end of life equipment.

WEEE Information for Veritas Customers and Recyclers

Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and implementing regulations, when customers buy new electrical and electronic equipment from Veritas they are entitled to:

  • send old equipment for recycling on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis (this varies depending on the country)
  • send the new equipment back for recycling when this ultimately becomes waste

Collection and Recycling Arrangements in Austria

Under the Austrian Ordinance on Waste Prevention, Collection and Treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE Ordinance) that came into force on August 13th 2005, for equipment that you buy from Veritas after August 13th 2005, Veritas is required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of WEEE that your new purchase replaces, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. The old equipment that your new purchase from Veritas replaces is referred to as Historic WEEE.

Under the WEEE Ordinance, Veritas is also required to provide arrangements for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of any electrical and electronic equipment that you buy from Veritas after August 13th 2005 when that equipment eventually becomes waste. This is referred to as New WEEE.

Veritas covers the following costs for WEEE compliance management in Austria:

  • The costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the WEEE to meet the targets set by Austria WEEE Regulations;
  • The costs of data management and reporting to Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management to demonstrate compliance with all administrative requirements of the Austria WEEE Regulations;
  • The costs of transportation of your WEEE to Veritas's appointed recycler in Austria.

Veritas has established a recycling contract with the European Advanced Recycling Network (EARN) and will cover any costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of the equipment on arrival at the EARN recycling facility in Austria. All New WEEE that arises from the purchase of Veritas products is classed as non-hazardous waste.

Please contact EARN directly to arrange for the collection and treatment of the waste. Under these arrangements, Veritas will cover the costs of collection and transport if arranged for by the EARN recycling partner. The EARN recycling facility in Austria is

Under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 and E-Waste (Management) Amendment Rules, 2018 in India, producers are responsible for the environmentally sound management of our products at their end of life. Under the Rules, covered products include information technology and telecommunication equipment such as mainframes minicomputers, PCs, laptops, user terminals and systems, telephones and printers. Metals used in electronic or electrical products contain hazardous elements such as mercury, lead and cobalt.  The improper management of end of life electrical and electronic products can result in toxic emissions to the air, water and soil and pose a serious health and environmental hazards.
Veritas is required to finance and organize a collection system in order to meet the requirements of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Veritas has established a contract with the authorized Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), Saahas Zero Waste and will cover costs of treatment, recycling and recovery of end of life equipment by an authorized recycler in India. E-waste Handling - Do’s & Don’ts:
All confidential and personal information should be removed from the products
Call the toll-free number above to arrange collection of end of life products
All electrical and electronic products should be handled by authorized recyclers and dismantlers only
Store the end of life product in isolated area so as to prevent its accidental breakage.
You should not recycle, dismantle or destroy the product in anyway, this is to be carried out by authorized service personnel only.
The product is not meant for re-sale any unauthorized agencies or scrap dealers.
The product (including batteries) should not be disposed of in garbage bins along with municipal waste that ultimately reaches landfills
Do not keep any replaced spare part(s) from the product in an exposed area.

As required under the Resource Sustainability Act 2019, Veritas is registered as a producer with the National Environment Agency (NEA). Currently the Act does not require producers to collect end of life equipment. Please contact your local recycler to arrange for the safe collection and disposal of end of life equipment.
