Problem

During Bare Metal Restore (BMR) Final Cleanup, the error message "Unable to update client state on the Netbackup server, error=200" is displayed.

Error Message

Unable to update client state on theNetbackup server, error=200

Cause

This error will be displayed if the restored BMR Windows client cannot contact the NetBackup Master Server to update the restore task state to Complete.  The message from the client to the Maser Server is only sent once.

Possible causes are:

1.  The client is not on the network. This can be caused by:
   a.  a host name or ip-address conflict with an existing server.
   b.  the network device drive was not properly installed.
   c.  the network settings could not be set on the client's network interface.

2. The Bare Metal Restore Master Server process "bmrd" is not operational on the NBU Master Server.

Solution

This not an indication of a client restore failure.  This is only an indication of a networking setup problem on the restored client. Using normal Windows operations, verify and repair, as needed, the network interface information of all of the required interfaces on the client.  This can include reconfiguring virtual interfaces associated with network teaming.

Also, verify that the " bmrd" process on the NBU Master Server is operational.

Lastly, as the task update operation is not retried after a failure, the client restore task state will be left as  Finalizing and not automatically reset. The state must be manually repaired. To do so, run the following command on the Master Server or from the restored client:

bmrc -op complete -resource restoretask -client <clientName>  -status 0

It is also safe to manually delete the task itself.
