Complete online restore fails when restoring data to a different computer

Problem

When attempting a complete online restore operation to restore data to a new computer, the restore fails and the computer fails to boot up properly. This issue can occur when the computer the data is being restored to and the computer that was originally backed up have not been updated with the same Windows updates. This is a known issue.

 

Solution

Use Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR) to restore to the computer instead of using a complete online restore.

Note: To recover Backup Exec server using  "complete online restore" or "SDR", Backup Exec database backup file (bedb.bak) and the Backup Exec database encryption key (*.dek) that was pre-exported and stored elsewhere are required.
