Analytics Advanced Search operator NOT CONTAINS does not function as expected for items with attachments

Problem

Enterprise Vault (EV) Discovery Accelerator (DA) has the ability to run a search within a search via Analytics. These searches are configured in the Review Set and can be Simple Searches or can be Advanced Searches that have multiple criteria. The Search Builder operators for Advanced Searches are:

Contains
All of
Any of
Near
Not contains
Not all of
Not any of

When using the Not contains operator for the Subject, unexpected results may be seen for items that have attachments. The expected results are seen when (1) the negation term is in the Subject of the message and in the attachment file name, whereby the message will not be found, and (2) when the negation term is not in the subject and not in the attachment file name, whereby the message will be found. If the negation term is either in the Subject or in the attachment file name, the message will be found, which is not expected.

To be determined - issue is under investigation.

Solution

This issue is presently under investigation by our Engineering Team. Depending on the results of this investigation, it may be addressed through a patch or hotfix in current or future software releases. However, this specific issue is not currently scheduled for inclusion in any upcoming release.
