Backup Exec generates an Alert: "The Licensing Portal is not reachable to synchronize the Entitlements. Ensure that you have internet connectivity."

Problem

Backup Exec generates the following License and Maintenance Warning Alert when:

1. In the Backup Exec Settings / Preferences, the option to "Enable auto synchronization of the licenses with the Licensing Portal" is enabled.

2. From the Home Screen of Backup Exec, the synchronization is manually launched by clicking on
"Synchronize Entitlements with Licensing Portal".


 

Error Message

The Licensing Portal is not reachable to synchronize the Entitlements. Ensure that you have internet connectivity.

 

Solution


This issue has been fixed by applying changes to the Licensing Server itself.
No changes to the Backup Exec Server are required.
 

Note: Customers who still experience this issue after September 2023 are encouraged to contact Veritas Technical Support, as they are encountering a different issue.


Workaround:
If it is required to stop the alert message generated by the automated synchronization feature, disable this option within the Backup Exec Settings.
Note: This will not stop the generation of the alert message when the synchronization process is launched manually.
