Product(s): Desktop Laptop Option

Problem

It is not possible to activate the 'Move the contents of the network user data folder to an alternative location' option, under  Setup - Users - Move Network User Data Folder  of the Arctera DLO v9.0 Administration Console. Although shown in the Console, the option cannot be selected and remains grayed out, regardless of the settings chosen.

This option can be selected in Veritas DLO 8.0 SP4 and earlier.

Error Message

Move Option

Cause

This is by design in Arctera DLO 9.0, due to issues encountered when using the option.

The 'Move the contents of the network user data folder to an alternative location' option will be removed from the DLO Administration Console in the next major release.

Solution

Workaround:

If you wish to Move the Network User Data Folder (NUDF) for a user, please use the initial 'Move the network user data folder to an existing Storage Location' option instead. This will require that you create the new NUDF Storage Location first, so that is available in the 'Move the network user data folder..' option dropdown. For details on how to create new Storage Locations, review the Administration Guide.
When creating that new Storage Location, please review the Properties of the original Storage Location you are moving the User from and ensure that the same Dedupe Server, Dedupe Storage Location and IO Server settings are configured for the new Storage Location.

The following TechNote describes the way to create a storage location on a Share or NAS device.
