Product(s): Backup Exec

Problem

On a machine that requires a proxy authentication, Windows ADK download fails as the Create Simplied Disaster Recovery Disk Wizard does not prompt for credentials for Proxy Authentication

Error Message

The server name or address could not be resolved. Check your internet connection, and then try again.

Solution

1. Download the ADK setup file from Microsoft on another workstation or server that has direct internet connection. During the Microsoft ADK installation pick the option to "Download the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit for installation on a separate computer". Copy the downloaded ADK installation file (~3GB) to the Backup Exec media server and install the ADK.

Or

2. Disable Proxy Settings on the Backup Exec server to have direct internet connection.

Or

3. Open Internet Explorer or Edge Browser and browse for a web site. Enter and save the authentication details when prompted. Then use the Create Simplified Disaster Recovery Disk Wizard to download and install the ADK.
After ADK installation, reset the authentication prompt in Internet Explorer for privacy.
