Problem

Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) backup fails due to Client for NFS service not starting on the client

Error Message

The following message appears when attempting to start Client of NFS:

The Client for NFS service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

Cause

The error message may appear if Client for NFS is stopped from within the Windows Services console.

Solution

1. Open a "raised" command line and run:    NfsAdmin Client Start

2. Refresh the Windows Services console. If Client for NFS service has not started yet, you can try starting it from within Windows Services console as per normal.

3. If any of the above actions fails with "Windows(R) failed a request to initialize the Network File System (NFS) redirector <[d:\w7rtm\base\fs\remotefs\nfs\client\nfsclient\service.c:199] :>", most likely the NFS Redirector has not been stopped.

4.  To stop NFS Redirector, run:    SC Stop NfsRdr

Then repeat step 1 and 2.
