Veritas achieves SOC 2 Type 2 certification for Alta™ View and Alta™ Recovery Vault
Veritas continually invests in security best practices to ensure your data stays safe and secure. We adhere to a rigorous program designed to support international compliance requirements, and our products regularly receive independent verification of their security, privacy, and compliance controls to further our Secure by Design pledge. As a part of this ongoing effort, we are excited to announce that we’ve completed our SOC 2 report.
Veritas is pleased to announce that Veritas Alta™ View and Veritas Alta™ Recovery Vault have completed the SOC 2 Type 2 certification. A-LIGN, a technology-enabled security and compliance firm, conducted the examination, and they found zero exceptions during the audit of 436 security controls.
What is SOC 2?
Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 compliance is a certification that evaluates an organization's information security practices to ensure client data is handled securely. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) developed SOC 2 to establish criteria for data security based on five trust service principles:
- Security
- Availability
- Processing integrity
- Confidentiality
- Privacy
SOC 2 compliance is important because it helps build trust with stakeholders and demonstrates a commitment to information security. It's especially relevant for service providers that store, process, or transmit customer data in the cloud.
There are two types of SOC 2 reports:
- Type 1: Assesses the design of a company's security controls at a specific time
- Type 2: Assesses the effectiveness of a company's security controls over time
SOC 2 reports are unique to each organization, and companies can select the trust service principles that are most relevant to their services.
