Meet the Veteran - Chetan Pisal

Chetan Pisal is a Sales Engineer at Veritas with a tenure of more than eight years with the company. Starting from the city of Mumbai, India, Chetan's professional journey has been quite exciting. Prior to joining Veritas, he served in the Indian Navy for 15 years in the Marine Engineering Cadre, where he played a vital role  operating steam boilers aboard an Indian Navy aircraft carrier. Chetan's commitment extended beyond his service on the carrier, as he actively participated in the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) and Gulf War Operation.

“My experience in the armed forces helped shaped my character and teach me the qualities of structure, organization, and attention to detail.”

 While serving in the defense sector, Chetan also managed to complete his higher education, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in economics and master's degree in marketing management.

Reflecting on his time in the Indian Navy, Chetan recognized the value of proficiency, continuous learning, and the importance of earning respect as a team player and leader. Transitioning into the IT industry was smooth for Chetan, as he already acquired valuable developer skills during his defense career. His favorite aspect of the job is the satisfaction of resolving issues and being appreciated by both customers and colleagues. Chetan is grateful for the ownership of work at Veritas, where he isn’t micromanaged or pushed in a direction that doesn't align with his own aspirations. The diverse nature of the company also continuously challenges him. 

He adds, “I appreciate the opportunities for growth and personal development here at Veritas.”

Now, Chetan resides in Pune with his family, which includes two children. Over time, he’s developed a keen interest in home automation and has become an avid cyclist. Chetan has also represented his state in veterans’ badminton tournaments, demonstrating his commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle.

Chetan shares “I think it’s important to keep a growth mindset, because it allows us to adapt quickly to changes within our technology industry.” 

He’s achieved numerous professional certifications, including PMP, VCAP, and Data Science from Harvard.  

During his free time, Chetan enjoys many exciting hobbies such as taking long road trips with family, exploring the country, and participating in Toastmasters, an international nonprofit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. 

“I was proud to serve as president for our local Toastmasters club," Chetan exclaims.
