MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – October 6, 2015 – Veritas Technologies LLC, a global leader in backup and recovery solutions, today announced that NetBackup™, an enterprise-class data protection solution, will provide full support for Amazon Simple Storage Service Standard-Infrequent Access (Amazon S3 Standard-IA).
A Veritas NetBackup 7.7.1 upgrade will provide enterprise businesses with an expanded backup and recovery choice for Amazon Web Services (AWS), and is the latest example of Veritas’ dedication to public and hybrid cloud architectures.
In September, AWS, a global leader in cloud computing services, announced its new Amazon S3 Standard-IA storage service. This new offering provides customers with a new and easy method to archive data, and provides fast service levels. Veritas NetBackup 7.7.1 now provides backup and recovery integration, offering current AWS customer’s high service levels for the recovery of archived data on AWS.
“Enterprise businesses are interested in a hybrid cloud architecture to combine the increased agility and cost effectiveness of the cloud with the control that on-premises solutions have over key IT business services,” said Ana Pinczuk, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Backup and Recovery, Veritas. “The Veritas NetBackup 7.7.1 update provides data visibility and management across hybrid architectures that include AWS, reducing the risk of data loss, simplifying recovery, and helping accelerate the adoption of cloud services.”
“As organizations of all sizes look to migrate their data to AWS to take advantage of the flexibility and cost savings of the cloud, it is critical to ensure information is backed up and available across multiple platforms,” said Bill Vass, Vice President of AWS Storage Services, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Veritas integration with Amazon S3 Standard-IA provides customers with an enterprise-class backup and recovery solution for their migration to AWS.”
Additionally, Veritas announced that it is enhancing existing NetBackup support for the AWS GovCloud (US) Region, an isolated AWS Region designed to allow US government agencies and customers to move sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements. With NetBackup 7.7.1, Veritas extends support to the AWS Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) Region, enabling users of this secure cloud service to leverage the Veritas market-leading enterprise backup solution for the first time.
The Veritas NetBackup 7.7.1 update is now available for current customers. For more information please visit www.veritas.com/product/backup-and-recovery/netbackup.
