Veritas recently launched a new and exciting student ambassador program in the United States. The purpose of this program is to enhance our brand at universities where current and former Veritas interns attend. These former interns focus on representing Veritas by hosting brand events and classroom sessions when the Veritas team can’t physically be there. Our ambassadors share a common ground with their fellow students and can share the experience they had with Veritas and the impact they made during their internship.
As part of our inaugural ambassador program, former intern, Yanai Sun, shares more about her experience and why she wanted to represent Veritas on her campus. Yanai is currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota (UMN), working towards a master’s degree in computer science. She’s actively involved in the UMN Society of Women Engineers to promote diversity and inclusion within the field of engineering, fostering a supportive community for women pursuing STEM careers. Simultaneously, she participates in the UMN Community of Scholars Program which allows her to collaborate with a diverse group of scholars, sharing insights and experiences to enhance academic and personal growth.
I had the opportunity to speak with Yanai about her thoughts about Veritas and her experience as an intern in the summer of 2023, and how she’s used her position as a Veritas student ambassador on the UMN campus.
Yanai, why did you want to be a student ambassador for Veritas?
Veritas' commitment to providing university students with opportunities to innovate, grow, enjoy themselves, and contribute to their community deeply resonated with me. I was attracted to Veritas because I believed that becoming a student ambassador wouldn’t only enable me to enhance my understanding of the company but also provide me with a platform to share my enthusiasm with my peers about their unique company culture, impactful mentorship program, and meaningful work assignments. I saw it as a chance to contribute to building a community around Veritas and fostering positive relationships between the company and the student body.
That’s amazing, and such a value to Veritas and UMN students. What was the best part of your internship experience at Veritas?
The most rewarding aspect of my internship at Veritas was the hands-on experience, the forging of meaningful connections with talented professionals, and gaining exposure to real-world projects. Working closely with a skilled team, I acquired practical skills and valuable insights into the industry. The supportive work culture and opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company's objectives made the internship a valuable and fulfilling experience.
I love to hear that, as it’s what we strive for in our intern program. What have been some activities you’ve engaged in as an ambassador?
In my role as a student ambassador for Veritas, I've actively engaged in diverse initiatives to bolster the company's presence on campus. This included hosting an interactive table in a dorm, where I distributed swag and addressed student questions about Veritas. I also delivered a succinct 5–10-minute lightning information talk in a classroom setting to generate awareness and interest. Additionally, I proudly showcased my ambassador certificate on LinkedIn, underlining my commitment to representing Veritas and contributing to its community. These varied activities allowed me to directly connect with peers and also significantly contribute to enhancing Veritas' visibility and positive perception within our academic community.
Thank you so much! What excites you most about the future of Veritas’?
What excites me most about Veritas' future is its commitment to fortify data security and safeguard against potential attacks and disruptions. The company's dedication to effectively managing and protecting enterprise data aligns with the ever-growing importance of data integrity and confidentiality in our rapidly evolving technological landscape. As businesses increasingly rely on data-driven strategies, Veritas' focus on robust security measures addresses critical challenges associated with data protection—an aspect of immense significance for the success and resilience of organizations in the digital era.
We want to thank Yanai for sharing her experience about her time as an intern, as well as for being a student ambassador. At Veritas, we encourage our student hires to be bold and brave and to be big thinkers! Yanai is one example of the quality of exceptional student talent we engage with and hire as well as a student who’s excited to represent Veritas. This program will continue to build out our brand and further our reach on campuses across the U.S. We’re always excited to share the amazing work Veritas has to offer students looking to make that first move in their career journey.
