NetBackup reports that Available_media script is already running. This process will not show up in event viewer and rebooting the machine will have no effect.

Problem

NetBackup reports that Available_media script is already running. This process will not show up in event viewer and rebooting the machine will have no effect.

Error Message

cannot run availible_media, process is already running.

Solution

Search the Temp directory for .lok files. The files should have a user name, then the extension and would look something like this: bob.lok.  Rename this file to something like bob.loktemp so that it's remembered, and then run the available_media command. If it now works, delete the renamed .lok file.
