Warning AC8F1FAD: Distributed COM (DCOM) is currently disabled. Remote users cannot connect to this computer unless you use dcomcnfg to enable DCOM.

In Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR), the scheduled backups are missed with the above warning and fails with error when ran manually. This warning occurs because the Local Administrator and the System account do not have the rights within DCOM.
This Warning is typically seen in following scenarios:
- DCOM is disabled
- "Everyone" or "Administrator" doesn't have "Launch and activation permissions" and "Access permissions"
Perform the following steps:
Solution 1: To Enable DCOM
a] Click Start, click Programs, click Administrative Tools, click Component Services
b] Expand Component Services, expand Computers, and right-click My Computer. Select Properties.
c] Click on Default Properties tab
d] Click Default Properties. Select Enable Distributed COM on this computer. Set the Default Authentication Level to Connect (None also works). Set the Default Impersonation Level to Identify (Impersonate also works). (Figure 1)
To assign DCOM permissions to System Account or BESR Service Account.
1) Verify the NT File System (NTFS) permissions on the Windows Share by right clicking on the share and selecting Sharing and Security. Under the Security tab ensure the permissions include Read, Write, and Modify at a minimum.
2) Verify DCOM permissions by launching the Component Services console by running START / RUN / DCOMCNFG.
3) Under the Component Services\Computers section right click on My Computer and select Properties .
4) On the "COM Security" tab, under the Access Permissions section click on Edit Default.
5) Add the System account if it doesn't exist and the administrator account that was configured under Network Credentials when creating the backup job. Allow the account both Local Access and Remote Access.
6) On the "COM Security" tab, under the Launch and Activation Permissions section add the administrator account from step 5 to the Edit Default fields. Allow the account both Local Access and Remote Access.
7) Click OK and exit out of the "Component Services" console.
