Problem

TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. Login timeout expired

Details :

The Above mentioned error appears while installing Backup Exec as Managed Media Server while trying to connect to the Central Administration Server.

 


 

Solution

1 Click on Start > Run > Type "CLICONFG"

2 Select "TCP/IP" and "Named Pipes" and click on "Enable"

 

3 Click on "Alias" tab

4 Check if Central Administration Server is added.

5 Click on ADD to add Central Administration Server

 

6 Select "TCP/IP" and Type the Server Alias and Server Name

7 Check the Option "Dynamically determine Port" and click OK

8 Click Apply & OK to exit the CLICONFG utility

Try reinstalling the Backup Exec with MMS Option. It should successfully communicate now with CASO Server.
