Problem

How to uninstall a private fix on a server when using Storage Foundation for Windows , Storage Foundation for Windows High Availability or Veritas Cluster Server.

 

Solution

The Veritas Hotfix Installer, VxHF, is a utility designed to automatically install, or uninstall, private / hotfixes released by Veritas Technical Services. This utility is included with all private / hotfixes that are provided by Veritas Technical Services.

To run the following commands, please go to the directory where the hotfix/private fix was extracted to.
The default location for hotfix/private fix extraction are :

on 32-bit system: "%CommonProgramFiles%\Veritas Shared\WxRTPrivates\Private_Number
on 64-bit system: "%CommonProgramFiles(x86)%\Veritas Shared\WxRTPrivates\Private_Number

To uninstall the hotfix using GUI, run the following command:

vxhf.exe /uninstall:Private_Number

Note: Hotfix installer wizard will launch and guide you through the uninstallation.

To uninstall the hotfix in quiet-mode, run the following command:

vxhf.exe /uninstall:Private_Private_Number /silent
 
For 6.x version the Hotfix (HF) installer now creates an entry in Programs and Features. The steps to uninstall a HF using Programs and Features:

 

   1. Open Windows Add/remove programs.

2.              2. Go to View Installed Updates – There you can see the list of installed HFs under “Veritas Storage Foundation 6.0 for Windows”.

3.              3. Select a particular HF and double click to uninstall.

 
 
Hotfix installer creates and stores log file (VxHF.TXT)at %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Veritas\VxHF.
