BUG REPORT: The NDMP Direct Copy feature does not perform as expected in NetBackup 6.5.4. Images appear to be duplicated with traditional methods.

Solution

Problem Statement:
The NDMP Direct Copy feature does not perform as expected in NetBackup 6.5.4.

When the bpduplicate process checks if an image can be duplicated using NDMP Direct Copy, there is a defect wherein only the first image from a given source tape alone is added to the direct copy list. The rest of the images from the same tape get duplicated using traditional (i.e. media server reading the source tape and writing to the destination tape) method.

The formal resolution for this issue (Etrack 1709133) is included in the following patch release:
  • NetBackup 6.5 Release Update 5 (6.5.5)
