0xe00002f8 Cannot open one or more mail message because of unknown MAPI errors.
The following error appears in the Beremote debug log file (located at "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Raws\Logs" of Exchange Server):
BEREMOTE: MBOX:Open() CreateMessage failed for e_id->len = 70, msg with 80070005
BEREMOTE: Error: OpenObj returns extended error e00002f8
REMSRV: MAPIProvider::Folder::CreateMessage FAILED in m_iFolder->CreateMessage RC=-2147024891(0x80070005)
This issue occurs when the Account used for the restore job does not have adequate permissions on the public folder.
Log into Microsoft Outlook and Navigate to the Public folder which gives the credentials error.
Go to the Properties of the Public folder.
Go to Permission Tab and select the user account. If the user account being used for restore is not in the list,add the appropriate user and under the permission level dropdown, select the Owner role .Click Apply and Ok.
Run the restore job again.
Login to the Exchange server with the Backup Exec System Account (BESA)
Open Exchange Management Console
Open Public Folder administrator option:
Expand the Default Public Folder.
Create a new public folder (This will create with the BESA as the owner and allow for proper privileges when restoring
Now edit your restore job to have a Redirected Exchange Restore to the public folder that you created.
Run the restore.
