II. KNOWN ISSUES
==================

+ (ET1514231) If uninstalling NetBackup Java from a host that is also a
NetBackup server, the uninstallation process may result in one or more
NetBackup services being taken offline. To correct this issue, run bpup.exe
from the netbackup\bin folder of your installation directory. This command
restores the services to the running state.

1) Download NB_JAV_6.5.3.1_<6 digit number>.tar into the /tmp directory.

where <6 digit number> is an internal tracking identifier

2) Extract NB_JAV_6.5.3.1_<6 digit number>.tar
/bin/tar -xvf NB_JAV_6.5.3_<6 digit number>.tar

This will create the files:
NB_update.install
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.1.README
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.1.postinstall
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.1.postuninstall
VrtsNB_JAV_6.5.3.1.tar.Z

IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=============================

contained in the download. **

NOTE: Click on the "Download Now" link, near the bottom of this document
prior to running the following installation procedure for this Release Update.

1) Close the NetBackup user interfaces.
- Make sure the NetBackup server has no active jobs running (for example,
backups, restores, or duplications).

- If a database agent is being used, such as Oracle, ensure that the database
services are stopped.

For LOCAL installs:

As root ONLY on Solaris, HP-UX, HP-UX-IA64, Linux, Alpha or RS6000
NetBackup Master/Media/Client machine:

2) Install the Release Update binaries.

cd /tmp
/bin/sh NB_update.install

Note: The subject matter on the second line of this README with
the keyword "Deleted" causes NB_update.install
to delete a file if it exists. It is used exclusively by the
NB_update.install script for install purposes
only and requires no actions from the user.

For REMOTE installs:

As root on all NetBackup Master/Media Servers:

2) Install the Release Update binaries.

cd /tmp
/bin/sh NB_update.install

3) Update any NetBackup clients that use the NetBackup Java applications.

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/update_clients

V. UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
=========================
Note: This will ONLY uninstall the Release Update from your local machine.

As root:

1)Close the NetBackup user interfaces.

Make sure the NetBackup server has no active jobs running (for
example, backups, restores, or duplications).

If a database agent is being used, such as Oracle,
ensure that the database services are stopped.

2)Change directory to the patch save directory.
Substitute the Release Update name for ${PACK.EN_US} in the following command:

cd /usr/openv/pack/${PACK.EN_US}/save

3)Run the un-install script:

./NB_update.uninstall

4)Verify that the Release Update uninstalled successfully by checking
/usr/openv/pack/pack.history.

5)If update_clients was run after the Release Update was originally
INSTALLED, and the Release Update is successfully UNINSTALLED, run:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/update_clients

6)If necessary, restart the NetBackup and Media Manager daemons:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all

The Release Update install logs can be found in /usr/openv/pack/pack.history
once the installation is complete.

Description:
A change has been made to ensure forward compatibility in the
NetBackup-Java Administration Console between NetBackup 6.5.3 and future
triple-dot releases, (for example, 6.5.3.1).

This change does not provide forward compatibility between double-dot
releases, (for example 6.5.3 will not be forward compatible with 6.5.4,
and 6.5.3.1 will not be forward compatible with 6.5.4.1).
