BUG REPORT: At higher bandwidths, limiting bandwidth may result in decreased backup performance.

Problem

BUG REPORT: At higher bandwidths, limiting bandwidth may result in decreased backup performance.

Solution

Overview:
In PureDisk Remote Office Edition, specifying a value higher than 5 MB/s as a bandwidth limitation may result in decreased backup performance.  For example, setting a bandwidth limitation in the replication policy is affected by this.

Conditions:
Currently, bandwidth limitation (also known as bandwidth throttling) may only be accurate across low bandwidth connections.  When specifying a value higher than 5 MB/s as a limitation, the discrepancy may increase the higher this value is set.  The value above 5MB/s at which this issue begins to take effect depends on the network and available bandwidth.  If an environment is affected by this issue, then not specifying a value for bandwidth limitation will prevent performance from decreasing due to this issue.  This also would have an affect on PDDO replication in latter versions of PureDisk.

Resolution:
