Enterprise Vault best practice registry keys are incorrectly set during EV8 installation.

Problem

During EV8 installation the following EV best practice registry keys are incorrectly set.
  • MaxUserPort
  • TcpTimedWaitDelay
The keys are incorrectly set in:-
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
The keys should be set in:-
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

Workaround

1. Copy the lines below and paste into Notepad - save the file with a .reg extension.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
"MaxUserPort"=-
"TcpTimedWaitDelay"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"MaxUserPort"=dword:fffe
"TcpTimedWaitDelay"=dword:00000078

2. After the EV8 installation has completed - run the *.reg file.  The *.reg will delete the incorrectly set registry keys and create the keys is in the correct location with the correct values.  This file needs to be run on all EV servers.

3. The EV server/s need to be restarted for these registry keys to take effect.
