BEMIG fails with: 0x8007007e- "Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Unable to load SQLBOOT.DLL" after BE Data or Catalogs folders are copied from another machine.

Problem

After copying the Backup Exec for Windows Servers data and catalogs from one machine to another and running BEMIG, it fails with the error: Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (Unable to load SQLBOOT.DLL (HRESULT 0x8007007e)). Please uninstall or re-run the setup to correct the problem.

Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (Unable to load SQLBOOT.DLL (HRESULT 0x8007007e))

Solution

Note:  It is only recommended to perform this procedure on a machine where only the default SQL instance of Backup Exec is being used.

  
1. Stop the SQLServer (BKUPEXEC) service.

2. Open command prompt. Run the command osql -E -S <servername>\BKUPEXEC.

3. Run USE bedb and then go.
 

 
4. Run the command: ALTER DATABASE bedb SET NEW_BROKER.

5. Exit out of the command prompt.

6. Follow the regular upgrade/migrate procedure that shows in the Related Documents Section below.
