BUG REPORT: In NetBackup 6.5.2, attempting to browse paths containing a ampersand ("&") using the Windows Java or UNIX Java Backup, Archive and Restore GUIs will fail.

Problem

BUG REPORT: In NetBackup 6.5.2, attempting to browse paths containing a ampersand ("&") using the Windows Java or UNIX Java Backup, Archive and Restore GUIs will fail.

Error Message

Invalid character '<path>' detected (Status 1,001)

Solution

Bug: 1363804

Symptom: When attempting to browse files for restore in the Backup, Archive and Restore panel of UNIX or Windows Java GUI within a path that contains an ampersand character ("&"), an error stating Invalid character '<path>' detected (Status 1,001) will be displayed.  

Below is an example using the UNIX path /tmp/Ampersand/MyDir & Yours/
 

Workarounds:
This issue may be worked around by either of the following:
1. Using the bprestore command to initiate a command line restore.
2. Using the Windows Backup, Archive and Restore GUI.

If the workaround noted is not feasible, please apply the appropriate release update to resolve this issue.

  • NetBackup 6.5 Release Update 3 (6.5.3)
