Unable to prepare offsource snapshot, vxsnap prepare fails with ERROR V-5-1-432.

Problem

Unable to prepare offsource snapshot, vxsnap prepare fails with ERROR V-5-1-432.

Solution

Unable to prepare offsource snapshot, vxsnap prepare fails with ERROR V-5-1-432.

Error "VxVM vxassist ERROR V-5-1-4323 Cannot allocate space for 4592 block for DCO log volume" while trying to run "vxsnap -g mydg prepare u03vol"

The command 'vxdg -g mydg free' comes back with no free space left for that diskgroup.

Check the prtvtoc for the disk, in this case c2t0d13:

The volume and file system needs to shrink by 16384 sectors (which is 1 cylinder) so the plex would shrink by 1 cylinder.  The volume and file system should shrink to 167641088 sectors (167641088 - 16384), the plex should shrink also and free up the space.

The following are the commands to be run to resize the volume and file system:

1.) Unmount and Set plex and volume to be the same length:

 # umount /epic/prdjrn

# vxvol -g mydg set len=167624704 u03vol

v u03vol - ENABLED ACTIVE 167641088 SELECT - fsgen
pl u03vol-01 u03vol ENABLED ACTIVE 167641088 CONCAT - RW
sd mydg03-01 u03vol-01 mydg03 0 167641088 0 c2t0d13 ENA

2.) Remount u03vol and resize

# mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/mydg/u03vol /epic/prdjrn

 # /etc/vx/bin/vxresize -g mydg -bs u03vol 167624704

3.) Prepare snap:

 # vxsnap -g mydg prepare u03vol ndcomirs=1

The snapshot should succeed at this point
