VxBSACreateObject: ERR - Could not create new image with file

Solution

Bug: 1319057

Detail:
After applying the NetBackup 6.5.2 release update, SQL Server backups fail reporting status code 6 (the backup failed to back up the requested files).  SET SNAP_ID errors can be found in job details as well as the dbclient logs.

Log Files:
The job details may contain strings such as
SET SNAP_ID=HCWWSC201_1214273720

From the dbclient log on the client:
22:17:10.881 [4844.5488] <16> handshake: ERR - didn't receive the right filename from server. sent <filename>, received <SET SNAP_ID=...>.
22:17:10.881 [4844.5488] <16> CreateNewImage: ERR - handshake() failed
22:17:11.241 [4844.5488] <16> VxBSACreateObject: ERR - Could not create new image with file <filename>.

The bpbrm log may show similar usage of SET SNAP_ID where an image name should be.

Workaround:
Discontinue use of VSS or VSP for Open File Backup.

If the workaround noted is not feasible, please apply the appropriate release update to resolve this issue.

ETA of Fix:
The formal resolution to this issue (ET 1319057) is included in the following patch release:
