The first scheduled run of a backup job post Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes, may not occur if the job is scheduled via "Time Window". The job will be listed as "Missed" under "Job history"

Problem

The first scheduled run of a backup job post Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes, may not occur if the job is scheduled via "Time Window". The job will be listed as "Missed" under "Job history"

Error Message

e000e020 - The job was scheduled to run, but the availability window closed before the job could start. There may not have been any destination devices available during the window, or the job may have been submitted to run when the window was closed.

Solution

Post Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes, the first run of a scheduled backup job will not occur if the backup job is scheduled by specifying a "Time Window" in the backup job properties. The job will not run at the scheduled time and instead the job will be listed within the Job-History pane as "Missed". This job will report the above error message in the 'Job History' log.

Note:

1. Only the first scheduled run of every backup job is affected.
2. Only backup jobs which are scheduled to run as per "Time Window" are affected.
3. Subsequent runs of the scheduled backup job will complete successfully.

Workaround

Depending on the frequency of these scheduled jobs, the time of discovery of this event, how long it takes to run the job and the time left before the job is scheduled to run again:

1. Re-run the 'missed' backup job.

2. Await the next scheduled backup to run and confirm that the job was successful.

Resolution:

Due to changes in the scheduler, these sort of issues caused by the Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes should no longer be visible in Backup Exec 2012 or Backup Exec 2014.
