BUG REPORT: Queued backups with 24x7 windows are failing at midnight with status code 196.

Error Message

client backup was not attempted because backup window closed

Solution

Bug: Etrack 1300264

Symptoms:
In NetBackup 6.5.2, queued jobs may fail at midnight even though the window spans midnight.  Queued jobs may fail at midnight for both 24 hour daily windows and 7-day windows.

Policy window examples as seen within /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bppllist -U output:

1. Example of 24 hour daily windows:
Daily Windows:
Sunday 00:00:00 --> Sunday 24:00:00
Monday 00:00:00 --> Monday 24:00:00
Tuesday 00:00:00 --> Tuesday 24:00:00
Wednesday 00:00:00 --> Wednesday 24:00:00
Thursday 00:00:00 --> Thursday 24:00:00
Friday 00:00:00 --> Friday 24:00:00
Saturday 00:00:00 --> Saturday 24:00:00

2. Example of a 7-day window:
Daily Windows:
Sunday 00:00:00 --> Saturday 23:59:59

Workaround:
Please apply the appropriate release update to resolve this issue.

  • NetBackup 6.5 Release Update 3 (6.5.3)
