Solution

To correct this problem the job definitions on the client computer will need to be deleted, and then a new backup job can be assigned using the following steps:

1.  On the client computer, stop the Backup Exec System Recovery service

2.  On the Manager server, go to the Computers tab in the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager.  Right-click the problem client, and select "Unmanage Computer" to remove it from the list.

3.  On the client computer, go into "Add / Remove Programs" and remove Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Management Control

4.  On the client computer, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\
Go into the "History" folder in that location and delete any files with a .PQH file extension.
Go into the "Schedule" folder in that same location and delete any files with a .PQJ file extension.

5.  Download and reinstall Management Control to the client computer from the Manager's Download Center

6.  Confirm that the client computer is seen in the Manager at this point and is properly reporting

7.  From the Manager, assign a new or existing backup job to the client computer
