Cause

With a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) farm containing a Shared Service Provider (SSP) name that contains a space, a backup job of Sharepoint resources will fail with the errors

An example of the cause of this error is shown below.  In order to view whether this issue is present in a MOSS environment, go to the 'Shared Services Administration' page of the MOSS Central Administration site.  In this illustration, the default SSP 'SharedServices1' has been renamed to 'Shared Services1' which will cause the subject issue of this Technote.  See Figure 1.

To eliminate the backup job failures, any SSP selected for backup should not contain any spaces in its name.  Consult Microsoft documentation on creating or modifying the properties of an SSP.
