Installation patch for Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.0 products with Solaris LDom(Logical Domains) Manager installed

Solution

This patch is intended only for installation of Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.0 products with Solaris LDom Manager installed. The issue occurs when the Veritas Storage Foundation installer fails during the ssh communication phase. You do not need to install this patch if the Solaris LDom Manager is not installed.

Text from the README-banner-patch.txt:

Storage Foundation installer fails during the ssh communication phase of the installer
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Issue Details:
The 5.0 product installation scripts for Solaris fails in the ssh communications phase.
The issue is present if the node prints a system banner upon ssh to that node.

This issue was found on a Solaris 10 Update 3 and Update 4 with the Solaris
Logical Domains software installed. The Solaris Logical Domains uses "ssh"
as the default means of communication for the control domain.

You would need this patch if the following banner is in /etc/issue:

Symantec is providing a new Perl module as a workaround to this installation problem.
Workaround Steps:
     1.  Copy the Perl module banner-patch.pl to /var/tmp
     2.  Run the product installation script with the new module. For example:

          ./installsf -require /var/tmp/banner-patch.pl
