Veritas Cluster Server 5.0 Maintenance Pack 1 (MP1) for Solaris: HAD hangs frequently and winds up being killed by GAB

Solution

After Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) 5.0 MP1 is applied, the high availability daemon (HAD) may hang and be killed by Global Atomic Broadcast (GAB), though the system is not heavily loaded.

Messages similar to the following are seen in /var/adm/messages:

gab: [ID 272231 kern.notice] GAB WARNING V-15-1-20057 Port h process 2396 inactive 7 sec
...
gab: [ID 940236 kern.notice] GAB INFO V-15-1-20041 Port h: client process failure: killing process
