ProblemStorage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.0 Phase III on Linux for IBM System p - VRTSspt Support Package Patch
The VRTSspt Support Package was not included with the Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.0 Phase III on Linux for IBM System p release and a patch for this issue is now available.
After clicking on the Download Now link below, move the VRTSspt_ppc64.tar_290334.gz file to a new directory and use these commands to unpack the file:
# mv VRTSspt_ppc64.tar_290334.gz VRTSspt_ppc64.tar.gz
# cksum VRTSspt_ppc64.tar.gz

# gzip -d VRTSspt_ppc64.tar.gz
# tar -xf VRTSspt_ppc64.tar

The VRTSspt package provides a group of tools for troubleshooting a system and collecting information on its configuration. The tools can gather Veritas File System and Veritas Volume Manager metadata information and establish various bench marks to measure file system and volume manager performance. The tools are not required for operation of any Veritas product, and they may adversely impact system performance if not used correctly. Veritas provides these tools to analyze systems if you suspect that there are performance problems. The tools should be used only under the direction of a Veritas Technical Support Engineer.
The Linux package is distributed in the native RPM format. Use the RPM program to
install this package.
1) Download the RPM file to a temporary directory.
2) Change to that directory.
3) Issue the "rpm -i <filename>" command to install the VRTSspt-6.0.00.0-GA.
noarch.rpm package. You need to have the root permissions to install this package.
