Solution

This TechFile provides information on the Array Support Library (ASL) for HP StorageWorks XP12000 and XP24000 arrays on VERITAS Volume Manager 4.1and 4.1 MP(x) for HP-UX 11.23 pi.

Supported Versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 4.1, 4.1MP(x)
Supported Arrays: HP StorageWorks XP12000 ( A/A ), XP 24000 (A/A)

Change Log: As opposed to the old ASL (version 1.0) distributed with TechFile 276988, this ASL includes the following updates or fixes:
1. Command devices (CM) were not skipped. They are skipped with the new ASL.
2. This ASL now skips the DISK-SUBSYSTEM devices.

At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package
After downloading the VRTSHPxp12k_v1.2_HPUX_vm4.1_280686.tar.Z file, uncompress and untar it:
# zcat VRTSHPxp12k_v1.2_HPUX_vm4.1_280686.tar.Z | tar xf -
Before adding the package, ensure Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled
To install the ASL package:
# cd /tmp
# swinstall -s `pwd` HP_XP12K
# swlist | grep -i xp12k
HP_XP12K   1.2            Array Support Library for HP XP12000
After the ASL package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array, as follows:
# vxdctl enable
After executing vxdctl enable, you should see libHP_XP12K.sl in the output of the vxddladm listsupport command:
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libHP_XP12K.sl

LIBNAME                 libHP_XP12K.sl
