The BmrGetOemDrivers utility gathers mass storage and network interface card drivers from a running Windows system that does not have Veritas NetBackup (tm) and Bare Metal Restore (tm) installed.

Problem

The BmrGetOemDrivers utility gathers mass storage and network interface card drivers from a running Windows system that does not have Veritas NetBackup (tm) and Bare Metal Restore (tm) installed.

Solution

The BmrGetOemDrivers.exe utility
This utility can be used to gather drivers for third party devices--such as mass storage and network interface cards--off of a Windows system that does not have NetBackup (NBU) or BareMetal Restore (BMR) installed. The gathered network interface card (NIC) and mass storage drivers (MSD) can be used to create packages for Dissimilar System Restores.
Directions
After downloading the utility, copy it to any directory on the client machine and run it from a cmd.exe window command prompt with the following syntax:

BmrGetOemDrivers <Directory Name>

Where <Directory Name> is the parent directory where all gathered drivers will be saved to.

An example of what the utility looks like when it runs:

BmrGetOemDrivers C:\oem

Discovering devices ...

Discovered 148 devices ...

Getting driver info ...

Processing drivers "3Com Megahertz (B) 10-100 LAN + 56K Modem (Ethernet)" ...
Driver files are saved in C:\oem\Net\FEM556B.ndi ...

Processing drivers "<COMPANY> UltraMedia Firmware Loader Device" ...
Driver files are saved in C:\oem\System\FWLDriverInstall ...

Processing drivers "<COMPANY NAME> PCI7510 CardBus Controller" ...
Driver files are saved in C:\oem\PCMCIA\PCMCIAFilter ...
...

The root directory where the drivers are saved can be zipped and copied over to a Windows machine where BMR is installed in order to create the package. Use the BMR "Create Package" utility (BMR 4.7) or "Software Package Wizard" (BMR 6.0) to create MSD or NIC driver packages from the saved OEM drivers. Note that this utility will get all OEM drivers (i.e. drivers that do not come with Windows installation).
