Backup Exec Remote Agent crashes on vixDiskLibVim.dll if resolving a hostname fails when restoring a VMware virtual machine


The Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems service (beremote.exe) on a media server crashes on vixDiskLibVim.dll if resolving a hostname fails when restoring VMware virtual machines using the Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI). The following error is reported in the Application Event Log and SGMon Log when the process crashes.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 15 or later versions.

To resolve this issue and receive the new Backup Exec improvements please upgrade to the current version of Backup Exec.

NOTE:  Symantec continues to focus on the current release and future releases; there are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time.
