Windows 8.1 storage pool volumes not visible in Symantec System Recovery (SSR) 2013

Problem

Storage pool volumes are not visible in the SSR 2013 console. This prevents these volumes from being included in a backup job.

Solution

Windows 8 storage pools may be created with the Advanced 4k sector size, despite the physical drives being 512 byte size. (source: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh848035(v=vs.85).aspx). At this time, SSR 2013 does not support this format. (source: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH143704).
