True Image Restore with move detection should not be enabled in NetBackup policies where Accelerator has already been enabled.


Unexpected results, up to and including data loss, may occur when True Image Restore with move detection is enabled in a NetBackup policy which also has Accelerator enabled.

The initial symptom will be a backup that appears to complete successfully, but which will not be restorable.  Subsequent Accelerator-enabled backups from the same policy will attempt to reference the previous backup and fail reporting status codes 13 (file read failed) and/or 84 (media write error).

Beginning in NetBackup, True Image Restore with move detection information is skipped for Accelerator backups regardless of how the setting is configured.

Disable With move detection from policies where Accelerator is enabled (Figure 1):

All versions of NetBackup through 7.6 GA ( are affected when Accelerator is enabled.
