A virtual machine restored from a Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) enabled backup set on disk-based storage may not start up if the backup set has been duplicated from the deduplication disk storage. This issue can be observed in both Hyper-V and VMware environments.

Note that the issue does not occur if GRT is disabled for the backup or the virtual machine is restored from the original backup sets on the deduplication disk storage.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2014 or later versions.
