A blank message is displayed when opening SMIME EV Shortcuts in an Exchange 2013 mailbox

Problem

Encrypted (SMIME) archived items in Microsoft Exchange 2013 mailboxes do not show any content when retrieved via Outlook.  Instead a blank message window is shown.  Archived items contained in the mailboxes of previous versions of Microsoft Exchange are not affected by this issue.
 

Workaround:

The affected items can be retrieved successfully via Archive Explorer or EV Search.  Alternatively the items can be restored to the mailbox using the EV Outlook Client.
