The Enterprise Vault (EV) Storage Delete process may return Event ID 6651 when performing Dumpster Expiry.

Problem

High memory utilization by the StorageDelete process causing the process to fail and items to remain in the database and storage location.

Error Message

Source: Enterprise Vault
Event ID: 6651
Task Category: Storage Delete
Level: Error
Computer: EVAULT01.EV.COM
Description:
Storage Deletion Server has failed
Reason: Not enough storage is available to process this command. (0x80070008)

V-437-6651

Cause

When processing user deleted items for permanent deletion, after the recovery period has passed, the StorageDelete process will attempt to gather all items from all vault stores on the EV Storage server to delete.  This can cause high memory usage by the StorageDelete process as it builds the list of items.  Each additional vault store that is processed by a single EV server will require additional memory.

Workaround

Vault stores can be moved to other EV Storage servers to reduce the amount of memory usage on the affected server.
