EVSVR is used to help in repairing Enterprise Vault (EV) SQL Database Inconsistencies, for example following a Disaster Recovery scenario involving a restore of an older version of the SQL Database.
The DirectoryArchives repair option helps in synchronizing the Archive (ArchivePoint) and ArchiveFolder (Vault) records between the EnterpriseVaultDirectory and VaultStore Databases.
The DirectoryArchives repair consists of several steps, and the last step of the repair is Delete surplus Vault Store database Vault records.
This step deletes Vault records that are not needed as part of the repair. For example, ArchiveFolders containing 0 items. E.g.

The following error is logged in the EVSVR repair log at Step 12 - Delete surplus Vault Store database Vault records, only for records that could not be deleted

Error deleting surplus Vault record, ArchiveFolder EntryId: 13CCD12347A0635949A7D077GGGQ15434A1110000EVSITE ( 14), Error: An attempt was made to delete an ArchiveFolder but the folder has outstanding journal activity associated with it. (0x80041bf3)
The deletion of the Vault record can fail if the record has associated entries in the Journal Tables (I.e. JournalArchive, JournalDelete).
This issue has no impact on the repair itself, and the only effect is the existence of unused records in the VaultStore. Manual deletion of those records is not recommended
There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a hotfix or cumulative hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time. However, this particular issue is not currently scheduled for any release.
