After upgrading to Netbackup 7.5.0.6 or 7.6, bpbkar32.exe may fault on Windows clustered servers.

Problem

After upgrading a Windows MS clustered client system to NetBackup 7.5.0.6, the bpbkar32.exe process may crash. 

Error Message

The Windows Application Event log may show an error such as:
Application Error E1000 Faulting application bpbkar32.exe, version
7.500.613.610, faulting module bedsnt5.dll, version 14.1.1003.0, fault address
0x000000000005debc.

The bpbkar log ends abruptly with messages similar to the following:

Solution

The resolution for this issue (Etrack 3251213) is included in following releases:

  • NetBackup 7.5 Maintenance Release 7 (7.5.0.7)
  • NetBackup 7.6 Maintenance Release 2 (7.6.0.2)

Workaround:
If this issue is experienced with NetBackup 7.5.0.6 or 7.6.0.1 and upgrading to a version where this issue is resolved is not an option, the Attachments contain replacement libraries which will resolve this issue - please apply the appropriate hotfix to any affected clients.

Note: These hotfixes are no longer publicly available, as all of their fixes are included in the NetBackup 7.5.0.7 and 7.6.0.2 Maintenance Releases.  If any of these issues are experienced in a NetBackup 7.5.0.x or 7.6.0.1 environment, the supported resolution is to apply the latest maintenance release.

Applies To

This issue only affects NetBackup 7.5.0.6 and 7.6 GA (7.6.0.1).  Other versions are not affected.

This issue has been seen on Windows 2003 and 2012 clients which were MSCS clustered.
