Verify of GRT VMWare backup fails with "Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib" and reports that the VMDK is corrupt when targeted to Deduplication folder

Problem

Verify of GRT (Granular Recovery Technology) VMWare backup fails with "Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib" and reports that the VMDK is corrupt when targeted to Deduplication folder

Error Message

The job log reports:

Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe0009578 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-38264

And under the errors section of the job log this is seen:

Verify- VMVCB::\\192.186.1.1\VCGuestVm\(DC)ENVIRONMENT(DC)\vm\Discovered virtual machine\SERVERNAME
Data for VMVCB::\\192.168.1.1\VCGuestVm\(DC)ENVIRONMENT(DC)\vm\Discovered virtual machine\SERVERNAME\SERVERNAME\SERVERNAMEl.vmdk is corrupt.

Solution

 

Workaround:
Perform Remote Agent backups of the affected virtual machines instead of Virtual Machine backups.

OR

Run GRT backups on Backup to disk / Tape devices.
